Description
The Foothill mine was discovered in 1855 by Spanish immigrants who mined gold underground from pockets of ore found in a vein. They liberated the free gold with a stamp mill. In 2006 Gyro Stone, a lessee, found a 1/4 oz/Au per ton average in a 50 ton tailings pile. Gyro removed 12,000 tons of overburden exposing narrow fissure vein(s) 50 feet and 75 feet in length. A 5 ton per day mill established a recoverable ore grade of 1.15 oz/Au per ton. Operations ceased with the death of Gyro's principal. Reports are available. The property, near US40, makes for a possible residence retreat with a a great view or just start up mining operations again!
